Drywall Repair
Drywall repair comes in many forms, from spackling nail holes, dent and nicks to replacement of whole sections of drywall.  Drywall cracks and blistering tape or poorly finished seams often need repair.

The cause for repair can be remodeling or water damage from a roof leak or plumbing fixture leak.

PROBLEM unless the contractor is equipped with and using a dust free HEPA filtered vacuum system.  In "the old days" a contractor would simply pole sand the repairs and let the dust fly.  He might make some attempt to contain the dust with plastic barriers but the dust would wind up everywhere dispute of his attempts to contain it.

The new HEPA filters and fine dust filtration systems eliminate the dust from the start, without the need for barriers etc... because (free floating) "dust" is never created to begin with.

Since drywall repairs usually require several coats of drywall compound to smooth out the damage,  I like to use quick drying, chemically setting compound for the first two coats.  Quick setting drywall compound will speed up the overall repair process forms days to often just one day.

Once the repair is made and the final coat of drywall compound is applied, the drywall must be sanded.  Sanding dust is a MAJOR
Drywall Seams

Drywall has a recessed side and a non-recessed side.  The recessed seams are easy to conceal, but the non-recessed joints (also called "butt joints") are harder to conceal and require a much wider taper using drywall compound.  An experienced drywall can do non-recessed seams that are undetectable and without a "hump" showing where the drywall compound was applied.

Drywall Tape Problems

Drywall tape can blister if the tape was not embedded into drywall compound.  In order to fix a tape blister, the tape must be cut back and mudded then reapplied.

Where drywall seams have cracked right through the tape, the repair process calls for filling the crack and then re-taping.
