The State of Michigan requires that a painting company take 60 hours of pre-licensure education and training then pass the competency examination before the person may engage in or attempt to engage in the profession of painting contractor.
EPA Certified Renovator
In order to work on pre-1978 homes, Contractors must take EPA approved training in lead-safe work practices and are required to implement those practices when disturbing painted surfaces on pre-1978 homes.
