Nilfisk Advance Eliminator I & II - HEPA Vacuum
Minuteman Lead HEPA Vacuum
High Efficiency Vacuums (HEPA and ULPA)
The EPA states: (1) “Renovation firms should look for a vacuum cleaner that was designed to be operated with a HEPA filter, rather than a shop vacuum that can be fitted with a HEPA filter in place of the original basic filter. A vacuum retrofitted with a HEPA filter is not necessarily properly sealed or designed so that all of the intake air goes through the HEPA filter. EPA also recommends that renovation firms ask the manufacturer or retailer whether the machine has been tested to ensure that it achieves the high efficiency required of a HEPA filter (capturing 99.97% of 0.3 micron particles).”
A HEPA vacuum is a vacuum with a HEPA filtration system. According to the EPA (2) It’s construction is almost identical to a standard vacuum. The only real difference between a HEPA vacuum and a standard vacuum is that a HEPA vacuum filters the exhaust air using a HEPA filter.
Lead Dust and the HEPA Vacuum
The EPA requires certified renovators to use a HEPA vacuum for cleanup of the work area (and beyond). The HEPA vacuum must furthermore, have a beater bar attachment for the cleanup of carpets.
Hard floors, countertops, window sills etc... require the use of wet cleaning cloths as well, before a final cleaning verification is conducted.
