The Chip Buddie
for Controlling Debris When Scraping Loose Paint
On Pre-1978 Target Housing Exteriors
The new EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting lead safe practices have changed the way contractors (or “renovators”) go about their craft. Now, containment of paint scrapings and debris is not only the responsible thing to do, it is also mandated by the EPA.
The Chip Buddie attaches to a standard vacuum hose, which allows the debris and paint scrapings to be removed as they are generated, and pulled into a HEPA vacuum. You must pull this scraper, (which is common for many scrapers - they are either “push” scrapers or “pull” scrapers) and the slower you pull the scraper, the better it will pull in the debris.
The blade is made of steel (not a carbide blade), but can be sharpened with a file as needed when dull. You may purchase replacement blades as well.
You can greatly minimize the amount of debris and scrapings that fall to the ground with this handy tool. An excellent tool for all EPA certified renovators.
Note: Use proper ground cover and personal protection gear (respirator, cover alls, goggles etc.. and attach to a HEPA vacuum when scraping paint on pre-1978 homes - even when using the Chip Buddie.
NOTE
You are not limited to using the Chip Buddie on pre-1978 homes, use it on all paint scraping jobs to minimize the paint debris.
